Balconies feel “inside” the house, so people sometimes get casual about their doors. A latch that doesn’t fully catch, a lock that needs a special jiggle – sab chalta hai mode. But at night, or when you’re away, that weak point is easier to exploit than the main door.
Checking and fixing balcony door locks – whether sliding or hinged – means these openings are as secure as the front door. In low floors, it matters because people can climb. In higher floors, it matters because sometimes adjacent balconies or terraces are accessible.
You sleep better knowing all potential entries are properly shut, not just “almost closed.”
