Most kitchens throw away a lot of useful organic material—vegetable peels, fruit skins, tea leaves, coffee grounds, egg shells. Ye sab seedha dustbin aur phir landfill. But the same scraps can become free fertiliser for your plants.
With a basic compost setup—bucket with holes, small home composter, or even layered pot—you can mix these wet scraps with dry material like old leaves, shredded paper or cocopeat. Time ke saath, they break down into dark, crumbly compost that smells earthy, not rotten.
That compost added to balcony pots improves soil, helps plants grow stronger, and reduces the need for chemical fertilisers. At the same time, your kitchen waste volume drops noticeably.
It’s a nice feeling when yesterday’s chai ki patti and sabzi ke chilke become tomorrow’s healthy soil.
