Light and water are important, but wind bhi ek big factor hai. Some balconies, especially on higher floors or open corners, get strong gusts. Delicate plants with thin stems, huge soft leaves, or very lightweight pots can suffer – pots topple, leaves tear, soil flies out.
Spending a few days just noticing: “Yahan hawa kitni chalti hai? Subah zyada ya shaam?” helps you choose tougher plants and heavier pots for those spots. You might decide to keep the most delicate ones closer to the wall, or use railings only for sturdy varieties.
You can also plan small windbreakers—like trellises, screens, or taller plants that shield smaller ones. This way, you’re working with the balcony’s personality, not fighting it every windy day.
Plants can’t change where they’re placed; you have to choose wisely for them.
